GENERAL

Will Practice Presto work on any device?

Practice Presto is designed to work on both Android and iOS devices..

How do I sign up for Practice Presto as Student?

You can register as a student on this website or in the app. Choose student on the top of the registration form and fill in your details and create a password. Register your teacher´s email address -start typing her email address and it will turn up as an option. Your teacher will then receive a pending student request for approval. Your teacher must approve your request before you have an “active” user account. Your teacher can also send you an invite directly from her webportal or app.

Will uploaded files be deleted?

All uploaded files from students will be deleted after 1 year. But all repertoire files will be saved.

How do i sign up for Practice Presto as a teacher?

You can register on the website or in the Practice Presto app. Choose teacher on the top of the registration and fill out your details and create a password. Then you simply Sign Up on the bottom of the registration form. Remember to confirm your email address. Check your email account.

The app is not "working"?

Please be sure that you are online either on your mobile network or Wi-Fi. This app needs to reflect all information from our server – that is why it will not “work”when you are offline. But remember that you do have the option to only upload files when you are on Wi-Fi. Go to “Settings” and choose “Upload on Wi-Fi only”. Also be sure that your device has the latest operating system and that you have downloaded the latest version of Practice Presto. Remember always to update the app when new updates are available. If you still have problems with the app – try to delete it and reinstall. Don’t worry – all your information (students and teacher) are saved online. Always feel free to contact us if you have any queries!

ASSIGNMENTS

How do I create an assignment?

You must click on the ASSIGNMENTS button on the home screen. On the bottom right side of your screen you must tap the orange “+” sign.

  1. Create a title of the assignment
  2. Select Assignment type.
  3. Choose the book of your choice from your library.
  4. Option: Choose to assign it alongside with an event.
  5. Choose instrument type and level.
  6. Save your assignmentIf

If you wish to further customise the assignment tap the edit function (green circle with pencil) then tap the “+” sign to add YouTube videos or PDF files etc to your liking. Remember to save.

What are the assignment levels?

An assignment must be placed under one of the following levels: Starter, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced.

You can differentiate as you please – but if you want to share assignments in the community portal and download assignments these are our definitions:

Starter: First lessons (1-2 months)

Beginner: 1-2 years of studies

Intermediate: 3 – 6 years of studies

Advanced: The student can play music pieces used for auditions for high level music studies.

What are individual/general files?

When you add an assignment to a student you can choose to edit the assignment.When you tap on the “i” to add a file – you will get the option to create either an individual or group file.

An individual file will only be visible to the specific student that you are editing the assignment for

A general file will update the assignment for all users.

BOOKS

How do I create a book type?

You must tap on the BOOKS feature on the app. A new screen appears. On the bottom right side of your screen you must tap the “+” sign. Add title. Then add book the URL link either by typing the link name (not easy) or by copying and pasting it in (easiest option). Choose a book type from the list or create new book type and tap SAVE!

How do I add Books to my library?

You must tap on the BOOKS button on the home screen. On the bottom right side of your screen, you must tap the “+” sign. Then you go on and create a name for the book. If you wish to upload an image of the book you can take a picture directly from the app or pick a picture from your own gallery of photos to upload. Here you can add a link to the book as well to make it easier for students and their parents to purchase the book themselves. If you wish to add a link you either type the link name or copy and paste it in the text field. Then tap SAVE!

CHAT

Who can I chat with?

In the student portal the students can chat with their teacher or with their group (if she is added to a group). The students do not have the option to chat with other individual students in Practice Presto – unless as before mentioned the student is added to a group. In the teacher portal the teachers can chat with all students and groups. If the teacher wants students to have the option to chat with specific students – she must create/add them to a group.

How can I chat with groups?

You will find your groups under “Recent”  – not “Contacts”.

EVENTS

How do I create an event?

Tap on the EVENTS button on home screen. On the bottom right side of your screen tap the “+” icon. Then create a name for the event. Add a description and time and place for the event. After this you can begin to add students or groups to the event. Search for them in the search field. Remember to SAVE!

What is a "Meeting time"?

Most often we want our students to meet early before a concert or an event – here you can register the meeting time. Notice that the start time will automatically get the same time. So all you need to do us adjust the start time – if the meeting time is earlier.E!

What is "Braodcast"?

When you send out a broadcast – you send a message to all the members of the event. They cannot respond to the broadcast directly – but can of course send a message – if needed – through the chat option in the home screen.

What are "Attachments"?

The teacher has the option to upload images, videos and YouTube links – related to the event – if she wants. It is not possible to upload through the student portal. If a student wants to share an image/video from the event – send the file to your teacher – and she can choose to upload!

MEMBERSHIP

What if I want to upgrade?

You can upgrade your account whenever you want. Choose the upgrade option in your user portal.

What if need to downgrade?

You can only downgrade when your membership has to be renewed (not before). Be sure that you have the correct amount of active students (including archived students) – to have the option for a downgrade.

How do I purchase a membership?

Memberships are purchased on the website. It is not possible to purchase a membership from your app.

Go to the website practicepresto.com and log in with your user account.

Go to the membership plans and choose the plan you want. After you have purchased your plan your app will be updated with the correct amount of students.

REGISTER

I have not received a confirmation email for my registration?

Because of constant updates on all digital platforms it is almost impossible to be 100% sure that our emails reach your IN box. But please CHECK YOUR SPAM FILTER – you will find our email there ( if it did not arrive in your IN box). 

What if happens with my student logins if I do not renew my membership?

Your student will not be able to access their account if you stop your membership. Remember to remind them to share their repertoire files if they want to keep them in another location

Is it possible to create multiple student users with one email account?

YES! Parents can easily create a student user for their child or children with their email account. If you want/need to add multiple users to one email account this is also an option. 
This means that it is important that you remember your user name. if you forget, contact us OR your teacher – she can see your username in your profile.

Can a Practice Presto student be connected to multiple Practice Presto teachers?

At the moment it is not possible for a student to connect to more than one PP teacher. But this feature will be implemented in the near future.

Where do I change the language settings?

Go to the Settings icon ( upper left “hamburger icon”), and you will see the settings menu. Go to “Settings” and Language and choose your preferred language. The language will return to default each time you log out.

REPERTOIRE

What are repertoire files?

Repertoire files are uploaded audio or video files that the student has uploaded via Assignments (Practice files) and that the teacher has moved to Repertoire. Case: If as student receives an assignment “Record concert” – and uploads an audio file from a concert. The teacher can choose to move the uploaded file to “Repertoire”. Files in Repertoire can be shared and if necessary deleted. These files are meant to be the students “Portfolio” of musical accomplishments. A student cannot move a file to Repertoire.

How do I move my students practice upload to the repertoire list?

Tap on the FEEDS button on the home screen. After listening to the students upload you can go to the top left side of the screen and tap the “+ Add to repertoire” icon. Then the file will be added to the repertoire list of your group or student.

How do I purchase a membership?

Memberships are purchased on the website. It is not possible to purchase a membership from your app.

STUDENTS IN THE TEACHER PORTAL

How do I leave a comment on my students feed?

After viewing your students upload you pause the upload where you wish to leave your comment. Then a comment section appears and you leave your comment there. This way your student gets the feedback at the exact place of your choice.

How do I filter the student list?

Tap on the filter icon on the upper right part of the screen. Here you will find the option to filter your students by lesson day and school.

How do I update a student profile?

A teacher can only update the students “school”. But she can see her students username – and this can be very useful 🙂
A student can update her profile information in her portal.

Can lesson times be updated?

A teacher can update the students lesson time by tapping the “Lesson time” button under Student Information. She can also register multiple lesson times.

What is the "Practice clock"?

The Teacher can find the student’s Practice clock screen under the main screen Student information. The student’s Practice clock is a list of the last 7 days and how long she has practiced each day.
The total amount of time will be a combination of uploaded files and manually registered time.

The student will find her Practice clock screen under “Settings”. The teachers and students screen are identical.

TIPS FOR STUDENTS

Do I need to upload my WHOLE practice session?

Nope. When you start the practice clock – you are making an audio recording. But, after 12 minutes (or before) – you can stop the clock- Reset. And make a very short recording – and then you can upload.

Remember that you must upload an audio or video file after you have finished practicing – for the total practice time (for that day) to be registered as practice time. But the uploaded file can be very short. The practice clock is meant to show how much accumulated time you have practiced each day.

If you need guidance and/or feedback on your practicing then you can upload an audio/video file. Your teacher will explain this in detail to you.

You can also register your practice time manually under settings.

Why can't I find my friends in the chat (contacts)?

You will only be able to chat with your teacher and groups that your teacher has added you too.

TIPS FOR TEACHERS

Where do I begin as a Practice Presto teacher?

We suggest you start by planning how you want to organise your books, assignments and events before starting to add them. You can easily sort them by creating types.

You create the types you want/need. You have the option to sort your books, assignments and events by “types” that you create. For example: Books – Do you have a lot of teaching material that you want to sort by type (Etudes, Scales, Repertoire etc.) or by author/composer (Mozart, Suzuki etc.) When your list of books gets really long – how can you easily navigate through your library. In this case perhaps you choose to create the following types: Etudes, Scales, Repertoire. Events: a good option for sorting might be: Concert, Group lesson, Recital etc. Assignments: Remember you already have the option to sort by level and instrument – so you do not need to do this twice – a good option here might be to create assignment types like: Sigh treading, Repertoire, Scales etc. Before inviting your students to Practice Presto we advise you to create your own “Student” login – so that you can easily see what their portal looks like and how the Practice clock works – so that you can guide them to use the Practice clock efficiently..

I cannot add files to my assignment?

If you want to update an assignment you must first: Choose the assignment Tap on the edit icon (the green icon on the upper right) Now you can update all fields and tap on the “i” icon and add/edit files. Remember to SAVE before moving away from this screen.

How do I update a student profile?
